Rotary District 7020 Governor Delma Maduro makes 'official visit' to VI
Mrs Maduro is the second female in the history of District 7020 to hold the title of District Governor and is charged with providing leadership, motivation and guidance to all Rotary Clubs in District 7020 under the general supervision of the President and Board of Rotary International.
Under the District Theme of ‘Serve Humanity, Secure Our Future’, District Governor Delma has chosen as her special project for the year the prevention and control of diabetes, a condition that affects thousands of men and women in the region. Several activities have already taken place in this regard and it is expected that these will escalate as her year continues.
Her programme in the VI include meetings with Government Ministers, all three Rotary clubs, the two Rotaract Clubs, Interact and Early Act Clubs both on Tortola and on Virgin Gorda. As the District Governor she is especially interested in youth development and is therefore very pleased that there has been so much emphasis at Rotary level on the development of young people.
The District Governor was scheduled to visit various projects undertaken in the community by Rotary Clubs and will give a press conference on Friday, November 29, 2019 about her impressions of the Clubs’ activities.
HE Ag Governor Mr David D. Archer, himself a Rotarian of many years, hosted Mrs Maduro and the Rotary family at a Reception at Government House on November 27, 2019.
District Governor Delma’s tour of duty will culminate with the 7020 District Conference which will be held in the VI from May 4–9, 2020 which will be attended by as many as 500 delegates from within the District and beyond.
