Rotary Club of RT brings in the ‘Xmas vibe’
The project, according to the President of the Rotary Club of Road Town Nelcia St Jean, is an annual one and is the club’s way of bringing in the Christmas vibe.
“We do it every year, it is something that the BVI community looks forward to when we light up the roundabout,” she told Virgin Islands News Online.
“It is part of our way of ushering in Christmas and helping to celebrate it. We have done different designs before and this year we have chosen the Christmas tree to the feature.”
St Jean informed that the decorations were undertaken the week before but the lighting was done on Saturday night, December 10, 2016.
Project funded by the club
To undertake the project, the President noted, is cost less than $4,000 and it is coming from the club’s coffers.
“It always comes from funds we have raised from the community. We have our annual project fundraisers and we always put aside money to decorate the roundabout and this year it is less than 4,000.”
The lights will remain up until after New Year’s.
Car to be raffled soon
Meantime, the club’s car raffle is ongoing and the 3rd and final early bird drawing was done also on Saturday night. Every early bird winner received a $1,000 cash prize and that winning ticket will go back in for the grand raffle on Christmas Eve.
The final drawing of the fully loaded black and silver 2017 Hyundai Tucson will be held on the Delta Petroleum compound in Pasea Estate on Christmas Eve.
A ticket costs $10 and the estimated value of the vehicle is $34,000.
Proceeds from the raffle will go towards educational advancement, a dialysis machine for Peebles Hospital as well as bus shelters.
Tickets can be bought from all Rotarians, at NAGICO Insurance, FLOW, The Sports Club, Delta, TAG, and Captain Mulligan’s.
The partners of the raffle are Tortola Auto Group, FLOW, NAGICO Insurance and Delta Petroleum.

Your negative attitude is sad! Are you shopping for the Holidays? Have you ever given to the poor? There's a saying...the thing you dislike most in others is what is wrong with you. Check yourself!! Now go and feed a few less fortunate and buy some presents for some needy children. That's what I'm doing, enjoying the decorations at the roundabout (thank you Rotary Club of Road Town), and assisting the needy.
