Rotary Club of Central Tortola donates food items to FSN

SLANEY POINT, Tortola, VI – The Rotary Club of Central Tortola has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting families in need by donating a significant quantity of food items to the Family Support Network (FSN).

The contribution, which was made at Tortola Auto Group in Slaney recently, follows the successful completion of the club’s Community Food Drive Challenge 2024, which mobilised Rotarians, businesses and the wider community to collect non-perishable food items for distribution.

During the handover, Rotary President Annill Daniel expressed the club’s dedication to community service, stating, “On behalf of the Rotary Club of Central Tortola, we are honoured to make this contribution to the Family Support Network. This initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring that families facing hardship receive the support they need. We sincerely thank FSN for their partnership and for the invaluable work they do in the community."

Increasing demand for assistance

FSN Coordinator FSN Pantry Coordinator, Ms Sandra Mills expressed gratitude for the donation, highlighting the increasing demand for assistance.

Ms Mills stated, "We deeply appreciate this generous donation and all that Rotary continues to do for the community. We have served over 1,000 families and continue to receive applications from individuals in need. Our team remains dedicated to ensuring that resources are distributed fairly and efficiently to prevent abuse of the system, and this contribution will go a long way in helping us achieve that goal."

Overwhelming support from Rotarians & public

The Community Food Drive Challenge 2024, spearheaded by the Rotary Club of Central Tortola, encouraged contributions through personal donations, network outreach, business involvement, and a road drive at local supermarkets. The initiative saw overwhelming support from Rotarians and the public, underscoring the power of collective action in addressing food insecurity.

The Rotary Club of Central Tortola said it remains committed to supporting FSN and other local initiatives aimed at uplifting vulnerable members of the community.

The Rotary Club of Central Tortola is part of Rotary International, a global service organisation dedicated to humanitarian efforts, promoting peace, and supporting community development projects.

    With so many giveaways to the imported installed poverty ,the highways by ways roads and streets should be of immaculatel conditon and zero occupancy of the same foreign human element in our prison ....Gratitude is a sin to portions of the animal kingdom.
