Rosewood Little Dix Bay Resort honours outstanding employees
Those 830 years of service referred to by the Managing Director are years combined for the group of employees who all received a variety of gifts for their stalwart contributions to the resort.
“It’s all about you here tonight, celebrating 830 years collectively of service. That’s an amazing amount of time when you think about it and there are immense amount of stories from all of you… and even as we move forward and we see this hotel go from 50 hotel rooms and all the way up to one hundred and new villas…there are stories behind all that transition. You have all taken part of all of that and there is something to be said for that,” said Linsley as he applauded the employees.
“You brought the world to Virgin Gorda with what you have done …. It is an amazing island and what you have done was to share this amazing island and what this country is, you have shared it with the world and that goes to you and why this hotel continues after 50 years to lead this industry in this part of the world,” added Mr Linsley as he addressed the employees briefly.
Brief were his remarks as Mr Linsley was not going to stand between his staff being presented their awards, enjoying their time together other than they usually do when on duty and also hearing from the person who was chosen to be the guest speaker, Mr Treffor A. Grant.
There were also words of delight and encouragement from their Human Resources Director, Ms Colette A. DeJonge who said, “It is a great opportunity yearly for us to recognise you, our associates for your amazing contributions to our resort and the dedication and effort that you place into the operations over many years, whether it be 5 years or 45 years.”
Mr Grant was also somewhat brief but his message was one that was no less strong, congratulatory, full of encouragement and a world of appreciation to the employees who were all deserving of their awards. He said many other things, “You guys go above the call of duty in taking care of Little Dix’s guests… This is why you are here, this is why you are here to be awarded. It’s because your actions have displayed excellence in customer service.”
Let’s get our acts together
It was a very humbling atmosphere at the Rosewood Little Dix Bay employees’ award ceremony and dinner held on Wednesday February 11, 2015 when one of the awardees didn’t leave it up to a guest speaker, senior manager or anyone in higher authority to tell staff what they needed to do to stay in the competition.
He was one of the awardees who recognised the need for his colleagues on staff to up their game, come together, work as a team as the competition is becoming even stronger, especially with the opening of a new airport in St Vincent and the most recent developments in Cuba. “Come on we have to do better, we have to work together, we have to have better relations with one another, employee and employer as well because if we don’t we are the ones that stand to lose in the long run,” said the awardee.
35 Years of Service Recipients were Jeffrey Demming, Joycelyn Peats and Horace Stevens while 40 Years Recipients were Jerome Vanterpool, John Faulkner, Bianca Creque and Phillip Richard.
45 Years of Service Recipients were Alvian Creque and Marva Smith.
