ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The Sea Cows Bay Basketball Club’s Christmas League (SCBBC) drew to a close on Thursday December 22, 2016, at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex, in a somewhat controversial manner as the coach of the Junior Mystics pulled his team from the court.

The final of the Tournament sponsored by the Minister for Education and Culture Hon. Myron V. Walwyn (AL) and Opposition Leader Hon. Julian Fraser RA (R3), had seen the East Rockers race into a 28-12 half time lead with a superior passing game, whilst keeping the Mystics to long range attempts. Then in the 3rd quarter, ended at 40-28 as the Mystics staged a semi come back, it was too little too late and back to back three pointers for the Rockers opened the gap to 18 points with just over two minutes left.

Then the discipline and respect for the game broke down and the Mystics walked off, citing they were being “cheated” and the final score was recorded as Rockers 56 – Mystics 38.

For the Rockers, Elroy Bollers scored 20 points with 10 rebounds, Antwon George 12 points, Khobi Joseph, 11 and J'coy Tyson, 8.

Top scorers for the Jr Mystics were Alonzo Baptiste with 19 points, 6 rebounds and Jerome Pereira 6 points and 7 rebounds.

According to the Organisers, it is the second straight year that a District 6 team has quit in the SCBBC Christmas Tournament and therefore they are left with no choice other than to ban any team from District 6 from taking part in SCBBC activities until 2020.

In the 9-12 division, the Golden Eagles beat the YEP, 31-24.

The Eagles were led by 12 points, 6 rebounds, 7 steals and 6 assists from Amarlee Glasgow, whilst Jason Audain scored 8 points, 7 rebounds and Kadeam Maynard 6 points, 4 rebounds and 5 steals.

For the YEP, Ernest Jacob scored 10 points, Deandrea Baijnauth, 6 and Mark Pemberton also 6.

You banned the whole district for one team walking off the court? No fights? Wow! This is the dumbest thing I have heard in my 50 something years
