SEA COWS BAY, Tortola, VI- Works to resurface the roads in Sea Cows Bay have begun, although presenting a traffic nightmare during rush hours.

Road works began in the area of Boys Gas Station yesterday, November 18, 2024, and traffic has been diverted.

“Asphalt resurfacing from Sea Cows Bay to the West End Ferry Terminal is slated for November 2024,” Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) announced in his Budget Address on Monday, November 11, 2024.

Dr Wheatley stated that in 2024, the Ministry of Communications and Works spearheaded several road rehabilitation projects such as in Fahie Hill, Sabbath Hill, Brewers Bay, Ballast Bay, Mayaba, Cane Garden Bay and in front of the Ebenezer Thomas Primary School in Sea Cows Bay.

Meanwhile, traffic was backed up from the Boys Gas Station all the way to Havers during rush hour this morning, November 19, 2024.

Where are the educated Engineers? This road work looks like they just gave the jobs to their families, who only know how to use their machines to dig up the roads and know nothing else about how to do the job right. We are doomed to wallow in mud like pigs. SMDH

If they close all the main roads at the same time explain how are we supposed to get two and from work/school etc.

Windy Hill Road closed leading in and out of Carrot Bay
Sea Cow's Bay Road is dug up in 3 or more locations
    Hodges Creek Road is closed
Portions of Great Mountain Road is closed

Yes, we want the roads fixed, but I think this could have been done in a more organized manner

A safari full of tourists was sightseeing through Sea Cows Bay earlier this afternoon. I could only shake my head - better the taxi drivers had cancelled tours for today. There's simply nowhere to turn. I was turning right from by Ebenezer School and a driver had actually fallen asleep at the wheel. I kid you not!
