Ricketts blazes to victory in HLSCC College Classic opener

PARAQUITA BAY, Tortola, VI- Jermaine A. Ricketts continued his dominance on the road racing scene in the Virgin Islands, blazing to victory in the opening race of the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC) College Classic race series on Saturday, September 21, 2024.

Ricketts ran a blistering 10:41.96 on the challenging 2-mile race course at Paraquita Bay to cross the finish line unchallenged.

Jahshani Farrington also put in a strong performance (10:57.33) to take second and dip under 11 minutes.

Third was Jonathan Lynch in 11:03.47, while fourth was James Ramprasad in 11:27.14.

Lindsay dominates

Dipping under 12 minutes was Katrina Lindsay, who clocked 11:58.75 to become the first female to finish the race. Lindsay, like Ricketts, has been unbeatable on the road racing scene in recent times.

Veteran road racer Rosmond Johnson was second in 14:13.98, while third for ladies was Julianne Potgieter in 15:05.78.

Rhonda Victor was fourth in 15:53.5.

55 participants took to the start line for the 2-mile race.

    The course yesterday was less than 2 miles, thus the faster the usual times.
