Residents now see vision of new reclamation ground- is the Premier a visionary?
Persons went out to support the event and those who did not, reportedly stayed away because of high ticket prices, it being a non-paid weekend for government workers or because they were not impressed with the artiste line-up according to a survey conducted by our news centre, sampling some only 35 persons.
In addition to that, the new grounds used behind the Ralph T. O’Neal Administration Complex is a huge space and on Saturday, May 25, 2024, which was night two of the event; the size of the space made about an official count of one thousand attendees look like half or three-quarter of that size according to BVI Tourist Board organizers.
The final night of the VI Music Festival had a modest crowd as they enjoyed performers by Sistah Joyce, Gramps Morgan, Freddie Jackson, OMG Band and DJ Pushpop among others.
We needed the new space
Many residents agreed that the VI Music Festival has excellent potential to be great however, a major challenge for 2024 was forward planning and the booking of more popular musical acts.
While the Premier Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) took some criticisms for the event and even commissioned the grounds, the new reclamation site is now prime real estate in Road Town.
Many have now praised the vision of Premier Wheatley for having another open space in the capital city for the events. It was the Senior Legislator, Hon Julian Fraser RA (R3) who had labelled Dr Wheatley "as a Premier ahead of his time".
Several residents on Facebook and other social media platforms are now requesting the 70th Anniversary of Festival to be held at the location. Others are saying it can be used as commercial space, while some opined that it should be used permanently as the new Festival Ground or for other large national events.

All this great waterfront space along the front of RT and what do we do with it? A driver's ed cone test and acre after acre of poorly maintained parking lots.
There hasn't been vision here for 30+ years. And nothing will be done with this now cleared lot except eventually manifest as yet another dumping ground for rubbish.
Say what you want, the ones that are to profit, should be the ones that do the investing. We ain't getting nothing back in the treasury. Pay your election backers out your own pocket.
Yes infrastructure ect..is indeed bad but I trust the premier will get the work done. These things just don’t happen over night. Takes a lot of time a planning in order for it to be done properly. The inferstricture have been in a state of dire need for years. I think it’s unfair that people like cin** and others are using it as a weapon to discredit the current Gov. Why didn’t you have the same energy when the NDP was in power. The infrastructure was the same .. bad roads , sewage, electricity, water..
Cin** have a personal vendetta for the premier and it is obvious.
We have a festival grounds that we can use.
This was just another way to get money in the pockets of cronies.
Natalio being a visionary is the joke of the week.
Premier wasting money only without vision.
The constant driving within the area, hardens the soil, making it an ideal area, for activities, which would lessen the "muddiness" of the area, due to continued, and sustained pressure, on the soil!
I do agree though that a paid parking may be a good idea.
Special thanks for removing all the obstacles to storm surge protecting the old CAB!
That is all.
