ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Hon Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) is encouraging Virgin Islanders to recommit to Jesus Christ’s core message of kindness this Christmas season.

In his Christmas greetings posted today, Thursday, December 25, 2025, Premier Wheatley extended heartfelt wishes to every resident and to those near and far who hold the Virgin Islands close in their hearts.

He wished everyone joy, peace, and renewal to families, neighbourhoods, and communities.

Reflect on Christ’s kindness

Premier Wheatley said we pause to reflect on the greatest gift the world has received - Jesus Christ.

“In His life, He embodies light, hope, and unbounded love. This season, we recommit ourselves to Christ's core message: to share His kindness with a world in need, to act with compassion toward one another, and to hold one another in prayer.”

He called on everyone to reflect on Christ's kindness in their daily lives, be generous to those in need and open their hearts to the less fortunate, keep all in their prayers, especially the elderly and the ill, and those facing hardship, and stand for a crime-free season by showing care for one another and looking out for our neighbours.

VI Christmas an expression of culture

Meantime, Premier Wheatley said the Christmas season in the Virgin Islands is a living expression of culture and identity.

“It invites us to participate actively in our traditions and to welcome friends and neighbours to our homes as we celebrate the season with warmth and generosity. We go from door to door, singing carols that carry the melodies and memories of our ancestors. We take part in church services as we offer festive worship and communal praises.”

He continued, “From honey-glazed ham to freshly baked bread to Guavaberry rum and sorrel, this season also calls us to participate in the festive feasts that bring our families and friends together.”

Dr Wheatley also thanked the public officers and frontline workers who keep communities safe, well-served, and connected during the festive season and throughout the year.

“Your dedication embodies the spirit of service that makes these Virgin Islands resilient.”

Premier Wheatley’s message ended, “As we celebrate, let us remember the importance of family, faith, and community, the beauty of our island traditions and the power of togetherness, and the joy of giving, the grace of forgiveness, and the hope that Christmas brings. Merry Christmas to all, and may the New Year bring prosperity, health, and happiness to every Virgin Islander.”
