PVIM candidates not interested in positions of power – Hon Ronnie W. Skelton
However, Chairman of the Progressives Virgin Islands Movement (PVIM-NDP2), Ronnie W. Skelton (AL) says that his party and its candidates are not really looking for power, rather they are interested in making a difference in the territory.
Managing Affairs
According to Mr Skelton, the party’s position on how they see the territory is something that sets them apart from the other parties and makes the PVIM unique in the race.
“Just about 18 months ago, we were hit by hurricanes Irma and Maria and the country needs rebuilding both physically, socially and from an international relations perspective… we feel that we have the candidates… with the right experience, the right attitude and they [are] not interested in positions of power” Hon Skelton said in a February, 14, 2019, question and answer live video on the PVIM’s Facebook page.
“If you look at the candidates of the PVIM and look at what is happening in the country today, you will know that the PVIM has the right mix of candidates in order to manage the affairs of this country,” he said.
People-Centric
PVIM At-Large Candidate, Shaina M. Smith in further expounding on the points made by Hon Skelton pointed out that other parties are just focusing on infrastructure, however, a people-centric approach is needed.
According to Ms Smith, “a lot of times people focus on the infrastructure, from a physical standpoint but for us [PVIM] this is about the people… the people are the soul of the country,” she said in underscoring the PVIM’s commitment to put the people in the territory first.
