Pumped Up Kicks tipped for feature race in STT on Sunday

Beginning at 2:00 pm, race one will feature Rana B of St Croix, Windworthy of St Thomas, El Hombre Grande of St Croix, Watta Gig of St Croix and City Splendour or St Thomas for a purse of $4,000.
Race two will feature Brass Note and El Indultado of St Croix, Gus is Tuf, Noble Forever and Perfect Sunday of St Thomas for a purse of $4,200.
Race three will feature Go Pancho Go of St Thomas, Returning Rock of St Croix, both making their debut, How's A Wynner of St Thomas, Thestarvingartist of St Thomas making its debut, Bar Magic of St Thomas and Centre Gold of St Thomas, making its debut for a purse of $4,400.
Race four will see three horses competing in the main event one miler. These are Simon Sez Run of St Croix, Gabarato of St Thomas making its debut and Pumped Up Kicks of St Thomas for a purse of $5,200.
The final race of the day will feature Unguided Missile, Atrevete and I'm Sensational all of St Thomas for a purse of $4,800.
Owner of City Splendour Lional A. Vanterpool told this news site that he expects nothing less than first or second for the mare. “She has been working well and I think she is good for first or second. It's a four-horse race. But the other horses in there a little tough so I give her second at least. Nothing less than that,” said Vanterpool.
He is also banking on Pumped Up Kicks, which he grooms, to win the feature race.
Pumped Up Kicks is fresh off a win on home turf after taking the feature race of the 5-race card held at the Clinton E. Phipps race track on February 7, 2016 and will go into the race as a favourite.
The horse out kicked Unguided Missile in the 1-mile affair that fetched a purse of $5,200.00.
'Everything's a go for Sunday; no scratches so far'
Speaking with Virgin Islands News Online, Racing Secretary of the St Thomas Horse Racing Association Kareem 'Pogo' Thompson said that everything is a go for the races on Sunday.
“Everything coming good, everything moving along, the horses from St Croix are here [in St Thomas],” he said when asked to comment on the preparations for the races. He said that so far all of the races are as scheduled and that hopefully there will be no scratches.
“So tell a friend to tell a friend to tell a friend...March 20 will be turn up at Clinton E. Phipps Race Track,” he said.
