Public urged to review Public Service Management Bill & give feedback
The Public Service Management Bill, according to the government, represents a significant step forward in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the public service sector.
This important piece of legislation aims to modernise and streamline the management of public service, ensuring that government ministries and departments are optimised to effectively serve the needs of the Virgin Islands community, as stated in a press release from Government Information Service (GIS).
The Bill seeks to improve the management and operational efficiency of public service institutions, ensuring they are well-equipped to meet the evolving needs of our citizens. In addition, it aims to define the roles and responsibilities of ministers and other senior public officers more clearly, including their capacity to delegate functions and manage ministerial staff effectively.
Increasing transparency & accountability
The Public Service Management Bill also highlights measures to increase transparency and accountability within the public service, fostering greater trust and confidence among the public.
Members of the public are encouraged to review the details of the Public Service Management Bill and provide their feedback.
The Bill is now accessible on the Government’s official website.
Residents are invited to provide their insights and recommendations on the various provisions of the Bill to both their district and at-large representatives. Additionally, they may submit their feedback via email to the House of Assembly at hoa@gov.vg, where it will be disseminated to all members for their consideration.
