Public schools to close from Feb 14-16, 2024 for teacher training programme
The Closure is to allow for mandatory training of educators through the Virgin Islands Public Service-Learning Institute and teachers who are not attending the training will be engaged in professional development activities to enhance their teaching skills.
Students will receive classwork through Google Classroom to ensure their continued academic progress during the closure. Parents and guardians are encouraged to support their children in accessing and completing assignments,” the ministry said in a statement.
Friday, February 16 is also the mid-term break as students will return to the classroom on Monday, February 19, 2024.
VIPSLI to train public officers
The newly launched Virgin Islands Public Service-Learning Institute (VIPSLI) is set to benefit all public officers, including teachers in the areas of skills training.
The institute was created as an institution to stand as the instructional and governing body for the training and development of all new and existing public officers.
A key offering from the learning institute will be an Essential Learning and Development Programme to all public officers and through this programme, officers will complete a minimum of 60 Essential Learning Hours annually.
