Public schools closed today due to inclement weather

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Due to adverse weather conditions forecast for today, Monday, November 11, 2024, the Department of Disaster Management (DDM) has advised the closure of all public schools in the territory.

This has been communicated to the public by the Minister of Education.

"This decision is to ensure the safety of our students and staff as cloudy spells with showers and thunderstorms are expected to impact the territory throughout the day.

"Students and teachers are asked to remain at home," The Ministry stated today.

To support continued learning, teachers are encouraged to provide assignments via online platforms where possible, as some areas are experiencing electricity outages.

"Please stay safe, monitor official updates, and take necessary precautions during this time. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation," the Education Ministry added.

HLSCC & BVI SDA School closed

Meanwhile, the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC) and the BVI Seventh-day Adventist School have also announced they will be closed today.
