PASEA ESTATE, Tortola, VI- The BVI Financial Services Commission (FSC) has issued a public statement stating Robert Rekis has “never been licensed or regulated by the FSC to carry on any type of financial services business”.

The statement released on December 9, 2024, was issued according to Section 37A of the Financial Services Commission Act, 2001 (as amended).

The FSC said the notice is necessary to protect customers, creditors, or persons who may have been solicited by Robert Rekis to conduct business.

Forged investment licence

“A forged investment business licence is being circulated and is falsely purporting that Robert Rekis has been authorised and licensed in the British Virgin Islands for the purpose of carrying out investment business by dealing in investments and arranging deals in investments as a person or entity licensed and regulated by the FSC,” the statement added.

Robert Rekis the FSC reiterated has never been licenced or regulated to carry out any financial services business in or from within the Territory.

Exercise caution

The FSC is encouraging members of the public to “exercise extreme caution if solicited at any time to conduct business on the basis that Robert Rekis is licensed and/or regulated by the FSC”.

The public is also asked to provide the FSC with any information on any questionable entities purportedly operating in or from within the Territory that may be relevant.

The FSC should focus on tackling the misuse of the VIRRGIN system, which is a much bigger issue affecting the financial services industry. While it’s important to warn the public about unauthorized individuals, ignoring problems like unauthorized access and misuse of key systems undermines the credibility of the entire regulatory framework. Addressing these internal issues should be a priority.
