ST GEORGE'S, Grenada- Premier and Minister of Finance of the Virgin Islands (VI), Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7), has congratulated Prime Minister Dickon A.T. Mitchell and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on their victory in Grenada's general election held on November 5, 2026.

Premier Wheatley, who will lead the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) to the polls next year, described PM Mitchel's election victory as "no ordinary win".

"To move from nine seats to 14 of 15 seats in the House of Representatives — and to secure more than 61 per cent of the popular vote — is a result of historic proportions. It is the largest mandate the NDC has ever received, and it breaks a long-standing pattern in Grenadian politics in which the party has served only a single term."

'We are bound by family ties'- Premier Wheatley

Premier Wheatley continued that the Virgin Islands and Grenada are bound by more than geography. "We are bound by family ties, by shared history, by our membership in the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States, and by a common aspiration to build resilient, self-reliant societies in a changing world."

The Virgin Islands' Premier added that he looks forward to working closely with Prime Minister Mitchell in the period ahead — on climate resilience, on regional matters, on economic cooperation, and on the many issues that matter to "our peoples" across the Eastern Caribbean.

"To the Prime Minister, to his new team, and to the people of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique, I extend our best wishes for a successful second term.

"May you govern wisely, and may Grenada continue to prosper," Premier Wheatley said.
