‘Premier wants Governors out of Cabinet’- BVI Beacon interview

According to the article, the Premier stated: “I think we have to move past governors being in Cabinet....I think the elected government should be the ones running Cabinet,” he told the BVI Beacon.
Many other elected officials have also expressed that view, including Deputy Premier and Minister for Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change Hon Julian Fraser RA (R3) who is now acting Premier.
While the Governors, following the 2007 constitutional amendment, do not have a vote in Cabinet, they can influence the outcome of many Cabinet decisions and continue to do so, a former Cabinet Minister told our newsroom.
Persons over the years, and in recent times, have told our newsroom that because Governors are part of the Cabinet Steering Committee, which includes the Premier and Cabinet Secretary, Governors can influence what goes to Cabinet.
Cabinet used against locals by Governors?
Additionally, Governors including Daniel Pruce have allegedly used Cabinet to try to block local residents from jobs or serving on Statutory Boards, usually residents speaking out against hypocrisy, racism and double standards. It is further alleged that both Mr Pruce and former Governor John J. Rankin, have used Cabinet to reportedly blackball many local residents on an alleged target list for bogus arrest and charges following the UK-imposed Commission of Inquiry (CoI).
The Constitutional Review Report, led by Chairwoman Lisa E. Penn-Lettsome submitted early last year to the Government and yet to be debated in the House of Assembly (HoA), also recommended that Governors be kicked out of Cabinet and the body be chaired by Premiers.
Dr Wheatley told the BVI Beacon in its February 13, 2025 edition that the Governor is “basically managing the meetings...But I think we are grown people, we don’t need to be managed”.

The Governor is not our problem. Politicians we voted for is our problem. They Rob, Kidnap and murdering our treasury and crippling our country for past 30 yrs, turn we into a 3rd World country. The Governor bring well need balance and a nutural eye and ear, so these corrupt politicians will not get their wicked was and change their corrupt way. Britain is playing with these people.
Cant manage road works, cant manage infastructure. Couldnt manage a p#@s up in brewery !!

Looking forward to election time
Of a truth being under the UK'S rule is not comfortable, but at this time we ĺare unable to defend ourselves, so being under the UK'S rule if safer than without the UK.
People of the B.V.I don't let go of bone that is in you mouth for a reflexión of a bone that was in the dog's mouth that end up wet without it because of greedimindedness.
In other woods, don't follow greediminded political leaders. They will point to the valley of poverty, to the Palace of wealth. The stronger competitor will everytime over the weaker one.
Use your brain wisely and don't let your immotional impluse fool you. Leave the governor alone.
The whole world is experiencing economic reshuffling mostly due lack of good Spiritual, social, economical, etc. Principle. Now is not the right time for us to allow power ravenous leaders urge us to make irrational decisions.
The B.V.I governor remaining in the B.V.I government Cabinet is better for us than not.
We must and cannot afford to bow down to the want, but not need, of a few political district representatives, our current Premier got only 487 of the tolal B.V.I voters last general elections.
Note: 1.
humans have back bone, not tail bones.
Note: 2.
Humans think and make both wise and foolish decisions in their brain, not their blood-pumping heart. Make the right ones for the good of humans wellbeing.
Moreover, concur with Dr. Hon Premier Natalio Wheatley that the UK- appointed and unelected Governor shoukd not be chairing Cabinet, the government executive branch. A child will never learn to ride a bike without sid of training wheels , if the training wheels are never taken off. The behavior being exhibited is an attitude that blacks are a mentally challenged, inferior, underclass who are poor communicators both oral and written, poor leaders and managers, etc. Thus is some hard truth that sound be denied but look at the actions which is as clear as mud, for example, the dependency model constitution with unilateral power.
Further, the UK-appointed and unelected Governor still-elected Governor has assent power. The whole thing, process is a corrupt extractive economic and extractive institute which benefit the elite st Mount Olympus, etc.
Good riddance to them ALL!!!
Our People Now Need To Stand Up and Stop Bickering over systematical Foolishness
Poor, Political Leadership Will Destroy that which our fore parents have been able to establish
Run Chat That
As if the original wont call you out. The premier and previous versions of him have enough power to make this a paradise the UK may be inhumane however the BVI is not clean either.
Who is alleging? we demand some transparency from our "elected" officials.
