“Do not play with COVID-19, I continue to urge persons who are able to take the vaccine to take it, ” the Premier said in a statement broadcasted last evening, Friday, July 9, 2021, on the Facebook page of the Government Information Service (GIS).
“I can share with you my family's personal experience over the last week. My mother who is in her 80s, one of our golden citizens, had to be taken to the hospital where she tested positive for COVID-19,” he said.
Hon Fahie revealed that being vaccinated, however, was a life-saving factor for his mother.
Ms Romney safely recuperating - Premier
“The doctors were able to explain to our family that due to her being fully vaccinated, significantly contributed to saving her life. Thank God she is now safely recuperating, the encounter was indeed very scary and traumatizing,” he said.
While recalling the experience, Hon Fahie said he does not wish for anyone else to experience it.
The Premier also encouraged persons to get vaccinated even if the vaccines don’t stop the contraction of the virus, rather, protect the body against it.
“The reality is, the vaccine allows the body to fight the virus with a high level of success so that is why I come to you with my personal experience, strongly recommending that you get vaccinated,” he said.
The Premier also expressed condolences to the friends and families of two recent COVID-19 related deaths in the terriory.

what did the doctors explained, i would love to hear the explanation.
You will remain in my thoughts and Prayers. Mr. Premier (my dear friend) Keep Strong, and Continue to encourage and plead to the residents of the BVI to get Vaccinated. Not until it personally hits home as in your case, "may" they "truly understand", get serious and get vaccinated.
I happen to reside in a Province of over 15 Million population, whereby I've witnessed firsthand our cases reduced from several thousands daily, to now in the low 100's ! Hospital admissions/mortality/ICU admissions have all drastically fell. We are now entering Stage 3 of reopening our economy, and have learnt that the hard sacrifices we made individually for several months have lead to us once again enjoying a somewhat pre-covid lifestyle. We are thankful and grateful, as we have learnt the hard way to live with covid, so we will continue to follow Health Canada's guidelines, of social distancing/washing hands/and vaccination.
** 54.098% of adults in Ontario (18+) FULLY vaccinated, and 79.045% have received at least one dose.
16, 827,434 doses administered...The Momentum has not been greater as we see all age groups rolling up their sleeves (elderly, youths, gen x, gen y, gen z, just name it).....
My People the Vaccines work !! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PROTECT YOURSELVES AND THOSE YOU LOVE DARELY.
One Love

Stop listenning to thst has no medical knowledge They are not qualified to help you, not even themselves
Vaccinate! And no, I am not being paid to say this, I just want to get on with my life.
You are a God fearing soul Andrew and God had mercy upon your family.
The Premier also encouraged persons to get vaccinated even if the vaccines don’t stop the contraction of the virus, rather, protect the body against it.
Soo why allow them into the territory without testing on arrival and quarantine ?
This is the fact the vaccine will protect against severity of the virus not stop u from
Catching or spreading.
Thanks for sharing .
May God be you and your family. Your mother is thought of very fondly in the first district. Many of us refer to her as Mom. She is a counselor, a mother and a friend.
She gives support in times of joy and sorrow and shares whatever with the community.
We were saddened to hear of your experience but happy she is recovering well. She knows God is the great physician.
God be with us all and our families at this time.
