ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) has hailed the Virgin Islands' educators on World Teachers' Day observed on Saturday, October 5, 2024.

"On this World Teachers' Day, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all the incredible educators in the Virgin Islands! Your hard work and passion for education shapes our future leaders and enriches our society," Premier Wheatley, a former lecturer at H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC) stated.

The Premier and his Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Government has been giving more than just lip service to teachers, as schools have been rebuilt and teachers have been given significant salary increases.

As of January 2024, following the revision of salaries for public officers, in the Virgin Islands, the starting salary for qualified teachers with at least a Bachelor's Degree, inclusive of teacher training, is $55,146.00.

"Today, we celebrate you and the profound impact you have on our community. Thank you for inspiring and empowering the next generation," Premier Wheatley added on World Teachers' Day 2024.
