Premier Fahie takes first dose of COVID-19 jab
The Premier received his vaccine jab, alongside members of the public, at the Theresa Blyden/Capoons Bay Clinic where about 20 persons were vaccinated this morning.
Speaking after his vaccination, Hon Fahie said he was feeling extremely well and was happy to be taking the vaccine in District One, given that he wanted to take the vaccine in the district he represents.
While the territory currently has zero recorded cases of the virus, as of February 23, 2021, the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccination programme continues with the aim of achieving herd immunity starting with frontline workers and the wider public, according to Acting Chief Medical Officer, Dr Ronald E. Georges.
Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker Neville A. Smith (AL) and Acting Financial Secretary Jeremiah Frett also accompanied the Premier for vaccination today.
Several other public officials vaccinated
So far, public officials who have been publicly vaccinated include the Health Minister and Governor, John J. Rankin CMG, HoA Speaker Hon Julian Willock, Opposition Leader Hon Marlon A. Penn (R8), Fourth District Representative Hon Mark H. Vanterpool (R4), Minister for Natural Resources, Labour and Immigration, Hon Vincent O. Wheatley (R9), and Chief Medical Officers Dr Irad Potter and Dr Michael E. Georges.
Commissioner of Police (CoP) Michael B. Matthews and Comptroller of Customs Wade N. Smith received the first dose of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine at Police Headquarters in Road Town on February 18, 2021, to lead the charge for law enforcement.
As of February 23, 2021, 2082 persons have received their first dose fo the COIVD-19 vaccine, according to information coming out of the Government Information Service.

also am appealing to people to stop spreading false information about covid vaccine ,the misinform are very reluctant to take vaccine,this is why the numbers are so low. people with authority in the medical field should come up with various initiatives in order to encourage more to be vaccinated
The churches and folk advising people not to take a vaccine ought to come out with their proper reasoned arguments for that. Not innuendo. Not appropriating US historical issues into the British Virgin Islands.
