Premier apologises for traffic disruption; Road works to continue into 2025
The Premier also noted that steps have been taken to minimise the disruptions.
“On behalf of the Government, I would like to again apologise for the traffic disruption and inconvenience caused to the motoring public.
“The Minister and his team have made adjustments to minimise disruption, including the necessary road works being done at nights and the weekends,” Premier Wheatley stated during a press conference today, November 26, 2024.
Delivering on a promise
The Premier noted that his government has committed to improving the territory’s roads and is delivering on that promise.
“I once again apologise for the disruption and inconvenience caused last week and ask you to bear with us as we carry out these important road works.
“I will conclude my statements by calling on all drivers to be careful when driving on our roads and please take your time,” Premier Wheatley stated.
'I prefer persons to complain about the work being done...'- Premier
During the question and answer segment of the press conference, Dr Wheatley stated that now that the government has the finance, thanks to the $100m loan from CIBC, road works are expected to continue well into 2025.
“I would anticipate that we are going to have road works taking place from this point well into the foreseeable future, well into 2025 and beyond," Dr Wheatley stated.
Apologising again for the traffic disruption, Dr Wheatley said he knows everyone wants the road to be improved but there will have to be some amount of disruption, "and we have to do our best to minimise the disruption but I prefer persons to complain about the work being done than to complain that nothing is being done at all.”

What we need are adults in the room, do the job right first and no apologies would be needed.
You need both a work & implementation plan, competent folks are also needed to supervise & inspect the work while it is ongoing and before it is turned over to government. The director of public works also need to grow a backbone when dealing with the ministers of government, who never think of the public except when the believe they will lose votes.
