LAMBERT ESTATE, Tortola, VI – Information coming into Virgin Islands News Online (VINO) is that Officers of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force, during routine patrols in the Lambert Estate area, observed three males in hoodies heading in the direction of His Majesty’s Prison, behaving suspiciously.

Police in a release tonight September 21, 2023, said on seeing the officers, the men fled on foot and as a result, a chase ensued where the men managed to evade the officers.

“During the chase, a bag was discarded by one of the suspects which revealed three firearms. One semi-automatic weapon and two pistols were recovered,” the release detailed.

It remains unclear when the incident happened, but the police is asking that anyone with information regarding the possible identity of the males, to contact the RVIPF Intelligence Unit at 368-9339.

This the kind of police work that needs commendation. Those Guns must or should have some kind. Of prints on them. Extract those prints run them. Send them to the US also to run and keep them on file, one day they will come to light. Hope it was a Prison coup to free their soldier..

I am deeply saddened and filled with anxiety reading these articles. At what point did the country crime rate rise so quickly. Please, continue to patrol. You may stop a murder , drug/gun possession etc. This has to be controlled , especially the taking of lives! Pray for the BVI. Greed & ignorance will cost us more than our beautiful reputation.

As it has been proven, the Police have to be seen driving and walking around to put fear into these criminals. I am so glad they have stopped a crime that I am sure would have happened if these guns were not confiscated. The big problem is, how is all of this ammunition getting in here? Our borders are not safe on the water or in the air, because clearly, that is the only way the weapons are being dropped here. Deport anyone not from here involved in this deadly business and never allow them to return. I have stated before, "Let's take back our BVI".

Ok so after deporting the ones who are not from here, what will you do with the ones who are from here? I am all for solutions but don't let your solutions be one sided.

@Nez Rez. Think about what you just asked about the ones who are from here. Clearly, they cannot be deported. The most that can be done to them is to take away their freedom by imprisoning them each time they commit a crime with a longer sentence each time they do something else illegal. If they cannot be rehabilitated through programs to put them on the right track and they keep on with their same pattern, there is no other solution. They will be doing life in prison until they are really old.

The water taxis come in and the captains take the passports to immigration and no one searches those vessels. They bring all they want and get away with it.

This is how wrong information is passed along.
The prison is not the only place in that direction, they could be going home to where they lived,, or they could have been going to parham town or even beef island.
There are many houses heading towards the prison.

Good job Officers! Your action may have prevented a heinous crime. Not many people would make positive comments here because they hate when you all are successful in the pursuit of crime fighting. It makes the Governor and Police Commissioner look too good since they are normally viewed as the "enemy".

When you eat a feminzed papaya from a hermaphrodite papaya plant does it make you lose your conscience?

If you have no knowledge on a topic dont drag it through the mud. Educate yourself. Legalize it stop the injustice.

This incident happened weeks ago. The police weren't on no da*n patrol when it happened. Whoever they were let go some shots around Balo, had police up there searching for bullet casings for hours after. That never hit the news, now we reading this. Come on! VINO should have gotten all the particulars from the police before writing this piece. Of course, this is Tola, so the people commenting based on all kinds of speculation.

Indeed, the police need to patrol up there and we need to get all those criminal elements off the street. No doubt about that. We also need to big up the police when they do their jobs correct and help in any way we can.

Why the prison suddenly on lock down indefinitely then…the incident was lastnight or the Police Statement would have mentioned a previous date.
