Police offer reward for information on Ashley Turnbull

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Two years ago today, September 6, 2010 the body of Ashley Turnbull was found in undeveloped land on Soldier’s Hill by a resident who lived close by.

Mr. Turnbull was reported missing to the Police on Thursday, September 2, 2010 having last been seen on Sunday, August 29 2010 in Meyers. A post mortem was conducted at that time By Dr. Bruce Hyma, Chief Medical Examiner for Miami Dade County but the cause of death was undetermined. 

The Royal Virgin Islands Police are offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information that assists in establishing the facts behind the unexplained death of Ashley Turnbull. 

Lesser rewards will also be paid for information that assists the police in advancing the investigation. All reward payment amounts will be decided upon by the Commissioner of Police. 

Acting Detective Superintendent Charles said “We are offering a reward to encourage those with information to come forward. Mr Turnbull was known to be a gentle man who lived a simple life. He had a large number of friends. What happened to him remains a mystery. 

Mr Turnbull was known to meet friends at Rudy’s Bar at Meyers which was close to his home.  

Acting Detective Superintendent Charles added “We are seeking any information that will help us explain what happened to Mr Turnbull. We feel that with the closeness of the local community that somebody might well know something that would advance the investigation. We want people to come forward and help us” 

All information will be treated in the strictest in confidence. Attention is also drawn to the Witness Protection Scheme introduced under the Justice Protection Act 2011. 

People with information are asked to contact Detectives from the Specialist Investigation Unit on 468 2718, any Police Officer or – in complete and guaranteed anonymity – Crimestoppers.
