Playground makeover for Althea Scatliffe Primary School!
According to Principal of the school Marieta Flax-Headley, one of the play grounds in the school compound has already received a complete makeover while work is on-going on the other. She noted that the playgrounds before were out-dated and were in dire need of fixing as the students were also not keen on using them.
Work on the playgrounds started under the previous administration.
The last school to receive a spanking new playground was the Ebenezer Thomas Primary School. The refurbished 40x 65 playground, an initiative inspired by the Class Five students who said they had dispatched letters to then Minister for Education and Culture Hon. Andrew Fahie and Minister for Communications and Works and 3rd District representative Hon. Julian Fraser for a new playground, was commissioned in June, 2011.
The playground at the Ebenezer Thomas Primary School was sourced and installed based on the size and age of the children and consisted of a triple slide that caters for the different age ranges, tic-tac-toe, steering wheel, arch bridge, a wheel swing and swingers.
