ROAD TOWN, Tortola VI—Mrs Loren K. Ryan-Rymer has officially been appointed as the Registrar of Interests for the Virgin Islands, succeeding Ms Phyllis Evans who has retired after a distinguished career in public service.

Mrs Ryan-Rymer, according to a public missive from the Office of the Deputy Governor on January 24, 2025, brings over 25 years of public service experience to her new role, including her tenure as Human Resources Manager within the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force.

Her appointment has since been hailed as a welcomed step forward in strengthening the administration of the Registration of Interests legislation.

His Excellency the Governor Mr Daniel Pruce commended the outgoing Registrar and expressed confidence in Mrs Ryan-Rymer’s capabilities saying “I commend Ms Evans for her impressive career in the Public Service.”

Appointment comes @ a ‘pivotal time’- Gov Pruce

According to the Governor, “Mrs Ryan-Rymer’s appointment comes at a pivotal time as we work to advance the systems that contribute to the effective administration of the legislation that guides the Registration of Interests. As an experienced and qualified professional, I am confident that she will be able to lead well in this capacity.”

As Registrar, Mrs Ryan-Rymer will oversee the documentation of financial interests and liabilities of elected members of the House of Assembly and specified officers, in accordance with the Public Service Management Act. Additionally, she will serve as Clerk to the Standing Select Committee in the House of Assembly.

Expressing gratitude for her appointment, Mrs Ryan-Rymer said, “The Office of the Registrar of Interests plays a vital role in the work of the Public Service, and I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to its continued success.”

Mrs Ryan-Rymer’s academic credentials include a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Andrews University, a Master of Arts in Education from the University of the Virgin Islands, a Diploma in Management from the Chartered Management Institute, and a Master’s Certificate in Organisational Effectiveness.

Meanwhile, the former Clerk of the House of Assembly, Ms Evans, was appointed Registrar of Interests effective November 1, 2023.
