VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI - It’s starting to look a lot like a few days before the Virgin Islands (VI) General elections. First, it was Tortola, now it’s Virgin Gorda’s turn.

After some four long years of bad roads, potsholes and bushes being a hazard to motorists, the National Democratic Party 1 (NDP1) Government of lame duck Premier Dr the Hon D. Orlando Smith (AL) is putting a little asphalt on the roads.

Yesterday, Wednesday, February 13, 2019, some seven trucks loaded up with asphalt and paving equipment, headed for Virgin Gorda (VG) on a barge.

They are expected to place the election asphalt on the Lee Road after residents complained for four long years of potholes, water running constantly on the road and mud.

Where is our money?

The NDP 1 government took out a loan for $16M from the Social Security Board before Hurricanes Irma and Maria of 2017 to fix roads and bridges throughout the Territory. We are still waiting to see where the money has been spent before and after the Hurricanes.

The cost of the election paving projects are unknown.

Perhaps we should have elections every month - it certainly seem to oil the Govt to get things done!

Remember VG was green over 30 years The NDP has done way more in 8 years than VIP 30 years.

It would have been good if the road maintenance was done sooner rather than now but it is being done and we should stop whining and complaining. Damned if you and damned if you don't.

no one being questioned by law enforcement: we talking millions & millions of taxpayers money: is it not funny that money was borrowed before the passage of the 2017 hurricanes to deal with specific projects: those works were never executed(so where are those dollars) however money was borrowed again after 2017 for the very same project(how sweet it is!!!)

"They are expected to place the election asphalt on the Lee Road after residents complained for four long years of potholes, water running constantly on the road and mud." Residents Lee Road concerns were being addressed all along. By the way the Lee Road is concrete with adequate drainage therefore no "mud", no potholes.

Love is in the air. Vote for more election asphalt and you will regret it for the next four years. The sub-surface of the roads are not being repaired, only Band-Aid treatment to the top surface. The lack of vision will continue to haunt us. People seek knowledge and be guided while using your intelligence. The Governor needs to act and stop allowing nonsense to continue so blatantly.

It is the most disgusting thing I have ever seen, they pave the wet and muddy road. This is the worst I have ever seen, they mess up that road when they dug it up a few weeks ago, then left it to catch water and got muddy then paved it. The NDP must go, they need a break after they ran out of what next to do after messing up the BVI. Irma and Maria did their part and NDP just about finishing it.
