PHOTO of the Day: Premier Wheatley & Minister Wheatley with Barbados’ Mottley in Dubai
Here in this photo, they are seen with the Caribbean powerhouse on climate change and a persistent advocate for the interests of small island states, Hon Mia A. Mottley, SC, the Prime Minister of Barbados. Ms Mottley is leading a high-powered Barbados delegation to the COP28 meeting in Dubai.
Under tight security, the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) meeting has attracted world leaders, financial institutions, non-government organisations, captains of industries, political and social activists, and environmentalists.
Dr Wheatley noted in a GIS press release last week that the Virgin Islands’ presence at the 2023 COP 28 meeting of world leaders presents an excellent opportunity for him to advocate, in an international forum, the needs of Small Island Developing States (SIDS) that are especially vulnerable to ill effects of climate change.
