PHOTO OF THE DAY: Hon Mark H. Vanterpool a lonely man?

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - It was yesterday, Friday, January 25, 2019, around 5:20 PM that our roving camera caught the Hon Mark H. Vanterpool, the representative of the Fourth District sitting in the middle of Road Town, the district he represents.

He was across from the Road Town Seventh-Day Adventist Church adjacent to the Methodist Church gaveyard.

The race to the finish

Mr Vanterpool is seeking re-election for a third consecutive term with the Myron V. Walwyn led National Democratic Party 1 (NDP 1).

The Communications and Works Minister has three opponents, they are, Luce D. Hodge-Smith of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP), Dr Vincent G. Scatliffe of the Progressives United (PU) and Karl M. Scatliffe of the breakaway NDP 2 called the Progressive Virgin Islands Movement (PVIM).

As of today, many political pundits consider Mr Vanterpool the front runner, but he seems lonely while trying to make a phone call yesterday.

We trust that the graveyard next to where he was sitting is not a symbol of anything!

@jokes. Nothing wrong with that but be honest with yourself, have you ever seen him sit there like that before? This is about politics, get in touch with reality. Please!

One Word comes to mind BEDROCK- humbleness is the bedrock on which he began his political aspirations and is not ironic that he can sit on a solid rock that is fitting as a remnant in a place where he considers home and is reminiscent of his childhood and perhaps is still a place where the minister feels strongly rooted and unbroken ; a place where he relates to the very fundamental basics of who he is in the promise of never never walking away - what people have a hard time doing is quitting on a fighter- Mark represents the underrepresented and sitting there is not indicative of a man going back to his roots but a man that is very comfortable in his shoes and not afraid to let his past meet his future - very aspirational and visionary- and a picture that is telling a thousand words - but Bedrock is definitely a winner; but will he take it all?

The Hon Mark Vanterpool (D-4), MCW, may be just enjoying some down, quiet time, contemplating his campaign strategy and tactic for the next month. The Action Man got a furious battle with Luce Hodge-Smith, Dr. Vincent Scatliffe, Karl “Dub” Scatliffe. Watch the battle between uncle and nephew.
