ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Every day in the month of December 2023, there will be a cruise ship in port. Today, Wednesday, December 6, 2023, there are some six ships in the Territorial waters, namely at Virgin Gorda, Beef Island, Jost van Dyke (White Bay) and Road Town, the capital city.

Many taxi professional and ship agents are pleased that cruise tourism is on the move and despite all the criticism the Government of Dr the Hon Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) has been receiving, residents are now seeing dividends from Government's travels, the hard work of the BVI Ports Authority, the BVI Tourist Board, Cruise Ship Agents and other stakeholders.

From the evidence so far it can be safe to say this sector is on the move in a positive direction.

In this photo are three ships in Tortola; two at the Cyril B. Romney Tortola Peir Park and one is anchored in Road Habour.

Another cruise ship visitor death today due to lack of beach lifeguards will deter more ships from stopping in the 'swim at your own risk' BVI!

We not getting good ships. The Good one "Norwegian" been leaving 1 - 2pm. For the past 3yrs. Something ain right. 'WHY WE CAN'T GET THEM TO STAY LONGER'. Somebody always saying on Tola Radio, not sure, who it is, I think its Choppy, we have a negotiation issue, we are very weak in that area.. This is more evidence..

They come 4:30am. Disembark 7am to be back on @12:30 for the 1pm departure and 1:30 for the 2pm departure. Will always say the majority who only benefits are tour operators/agents and the Head Tax(Ports)..

We had 3 ships two of which left 2pm and one large one that was anchored which ONLY had one Approx 400ppl crew included! Don’t let the face value detour or distract you the BVI NEEDS better negotiations with these cruise lines!
