LONG LOOK, Tortola, VI- Seventh District Candidate for the 2023 General Election Mrs Perline R. Scatliffe-Leonard has touted herself as a woman who will get things done rather than someone who will be making empty promises.

Scatliffe-Leonard's official campaign launch was held last night, February 25, 2023, at The Stickit in Long Look, where a scant crowd turned out to hear what she had to bring to the table.

The Independent Candidate made it clear she is not the one to be swamping constituents with speeches but she intends to show action.

Among the things she said she will be looking at is the well-being of the elderly and youths of the Seventh District.

Appeal to private sector

The former Water and Sewerage Department Director also said she would be looking to the private sector to partner on some of her initiatives.

"Again, we send a clarion call to the private sector, that we depend on you to help us build our territory and so we look to you for your support in all that we set ourselves to do."

She said she has already made inquiries with a few agencies and she is very much aware of a few who are willing to partner with her team to tackle the issue of non-employment in the district.

"When families are able to provide for themselves we create healthier, safer, and more prosperous communities."

The rooky politician also assured that once in government she would be in a better position to fight for the sewerage and water issues that have been plaguing the district for decades.

Chairing last night's campaign launch was former legislator Mr E. Walwyn Brewley.

Is this the woman who did nothing at W&S for years and years. Why on earth would a voter choose her?

I cannot blog my opinion since for some reason it is not posted. All I can say is that this election is probably the most important in the history of the BVI. As such, I will encourage all of us to approach it cautiously and with much prayer.

Love her spirit but many had those same words and did not fulfill their vows to the people. 1. you dont know what you would meet. 2. All these plans and proposals need money to fulfill your promise. 3. Making a change now would put the territory 8 years backward truth be told. 4. Can you stand up against the giants?

I know you mean well but I have serious questions for this is no jokey electrician or time.

For I very noticed your facial expressions says it all even before you answer a question. May be you may need to take stock of this. Just try to stay calm and collective.

She said she would deal.with a ridiculous water bill issue my tenant left me with when their old meters changed to the new ones. Pure talk and no action. Must l believe her now? It's impossible for a tenant to have a $6000.00 water bill for just 2 years of tenancy, no washing maching even in the apt.

Everyone knows that this lady can speak well but that is it. She really cares about nobody other than herself. She will try to put on a show for the next 2 months to try to fool the people to get the votes but in her heart it is not pure for the people only for the power.

It is alleged that water consumers within the BVI owe the WSD millions of dollars in unpaid bills. Many of these have been disconnected for years while dozens are disconnected weekly. This is due to bill distribution. Anyone who has gone to the Department would tell you the issues they have with a simple inquiry about a bill, whether they were given the wrong bill or, were told that their bills were not ready. There are also cases where landlord are collecting bills and are not passing them onto their tenants. Some people just got fed up and stop going to the Department altogether. These problems were compounded by the 2017 hurricanes. Since the Department is making no effort to collect this money or it is simple too difficult for consumers to pay, why not call an amnesty? Why not ask anyone with an overdue bill and has been disconnected for let's say over $1000 to be given a one-time opportunity to pay half of that bill with the appropriate revonnection fee and the remainder of the bill go into debt forgiveness then reset the account? Persons who failed to take opportunity of this amnesty, would then be force by other legal means, to pay the bill in full. While the Department would of course loose some money, it could collect money on account that would have been dormant for years. This may sound stupid but this lady
    could try this.

How can these people lead us when it is obvious by their presentation that they are still in mental captivity. On the other hand if someone with a broader world view presents themself they will be rejected by the mentally handicapped electorate who comprise the majority of voters that are also totally clueless.

She says she is going to do all these things. Maybe she would make a great politician if she had plenty of practice l***g to the customers and employees at water and sewerage. The promises she made to the employees, especially those who worked long hours and many days without compensation. How this woman even sleeps at night is beside me.

They say vote for her it can't get worst. They said the same about water and sewerage and somehow she managed to destroy it. Look at it, is it better after her? She should've gotten at least something done at the Water and sewerage. The Department has a $20 million deficit every year. She had no plan and no action. She needs to get done and go sit down.
