ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Chairman of the People’s Empowerment Party (PEP) Honourable J. Alvin Christopher (R2) said that the party will at the right time make an announcement with regards to who its candidates are for the upcoming elections.

He was among the panelists on PEP’s radio show aired last night February 23, 2015 on ZBVI 780 AM. The others were President of the party Natalio D. Wheatley aka Sowande Uhuru and party Public Relations Officer Lorie A. Rhymer. Mrs Julia Christopher hosted the show.

Hon Christopher was speaking in response to a caller who asked whether any of the persons on the panel would be contesting for the districts.

“You could tell me if anyone of the three of you intend to run for the party for the district in the upcoming elections,” the male caller asked, directing his question to Wheatley, Rhymer and host Christopher.

However in response to the question, Hon Christopher said, “The People’s Empowerment Party is intended to field 13 candidates for the 13 positions and we intend in a timely manner to reveal the names of the candidates contesting on our ticket.”

“I know a lot of persons in the public have been asking when we are going to [announce our candidates]. I think everything takes time. You may plan and you work towards your programme. We believe we are on the right track and at the right time we will say to the public who our candidates are and what districts they are contesting,” he said.

It is strongly believed that Virgin Gordian Faye J. Reese-Charles will be the PEP candidate to contest the seat in the Ninth District. According to this news site’s sources, Ms. Reese-Charles was settled on after a series of meetings with the PEP Executive. She is expected to make a formal announcement in May of this year.

When so many parties and candidates join in the fray, it makes it much easier for the incumbent to retain the Government. It's only common sense. NDP are doing a good job and deserve another 4 years.

Imagine Kedrick and Myron leaving NDP to join VIP and then merge with PEP and PPA with the popular, already elected officials at the head. NDP will beat them? NO! Don't compare apples to oranges. Denzil only lost because he lost members of his Government. NDP hasn't lost one member and will have a ticket just as strong as the last one.

a mix of candidates from the three parties would make for a stronger cohesive government because it would force more debate and compromise and oversight. We need fresh blood, but no one party is really insightful enough to govern. NDP is the most cohesive because they are in power. However, their self-serving and authoritarian approach has alienated many as they cater to the rich. Sopers Hole is now taken over with yet another billionaire.
But the public has not been informed about any changes. They want champagne results with backyard understanding of what they are messing up. Why do we have to have several "5-star" hotels when it is difficult to get that rating (or even fill them)? why can't we concentrate on infrastructure for the population before catering to cruise ships? The stronger the foundation and regulations, the more control we have and the more desirable BVI is considered. Disney is not a magic bullet. Quite the opposite. Many travelers stay away from anything that has to do with the amusement park.

There are countries whose infrastructure is worst than ours and boast bigger and more cruize ships and over night tourists than us. The infrastructure of one country will never be perfect and its an on going process. Everyday something has to be fixed. So because ours is not perfect, we should stop cruize ships and over night tourists from visiting? All you older folks wants to dictate and quick to say stop this or dont do that. What about the younger generation now and those to come? The country has to grow with the world. This BVI was not designated as retirement islands.

The Mac Donald`s generation. They run things, they order their big mac now and wants it now, they have no patience. so its four years for every party from now on--wards.-- sorry!---- Mr. Wheatley is the right person to lead PEP into the future. Being young, clever, wise and bright--- matter!
