Patrons defy Mother Nature at EE/LL Festival stage show
The night started out with a few persons converging at the Juliette Penn Festiville as the Extreme Band kept their company, but as the night grew older the clouds, rather than taking on a night’s feature of getting dark and sprinkled with a few stars, got misty white.
As artistes such as Benji of Dominca, Swappi of Trinidad, Shine I, Heritage and Maccabee took to the stage, there were indications that the night was not going to be one that the fans were looking forward to as there were frequent downpours that separated the entertainers from their fans.
But that was not the case when the time came for the performance of the renowned Jamaican reggae singer, Eric Donaldson. When Donaldson took to the stage, his fans splattered through the muddy ground, some with umbrella and others without, and the party took full swing. They did not let the songs of old like ‘Cherry Oh Cherry Oh baby’ and others go to waste.
Soaked and some looking like wet puppies, some patrons stayed on in heavy intermittent showers, light drizzles and moments of just heavy cold winds to ensure they got their money’s worth as Jamaican dancehall sensation Aidonia put the lid on the entertainment for the night.
There were no caring for expensive shoes, fancy hair styles and ‘dan dan’ clothing because fans were determined to have a great time and though many thought that the performances could have gone on a bit longer, they seemed not disappointed in the musical entertainers.
It rained for the most part of Aidonia’s performance but the moment he said good bye and persons were gearing up for the Rise and Shine Tramp, the rain came down in its full glory. But even then, patrons simply waited for the rain to end and continued their revelry at the Rise and Shine Tramp.
