EAST END, Tortola, VI – Elmore Stoutt High School (ESHS) beat Bregado Flax Educational Centre (BFEC) by 8 wickets when the British Virgin Islands Cricket Association (BVICA) launched the High School League on Thursday May 26, 2016 at Greenland Recreation Ground.

The High School League features teams from ESHS, BFEC, St George’s and Cedar School all competing in a 15 over format for the Theodore Skeete Cup.

Having been invited to bat first by ESHS captain Trent Olive, the less experienced BFEC started promisingly with Mickel Morain finding the boundary regularly before falling to the safe hands of Malik John off the bowling of Jerome Perera, for 16.

Daniel Gilford and Joshua Ramprasad did their best to support Nicholas Ramgadoo, but both lost their wickets at a crucial stage of the innings to Marcus Butler and Nathan Francis respectively.

Ramgadoo was then run out for 12 with the score on 49 and the innings wrapped up in quick fashion as Roilley Christopher grabbed two wickets to bowl out BFEC for 67 in the 14th over.

ESHS lost Butler, clean bowled by Gilford, for just 1, but Francis smashed a couple of boundaries to give ESHS the ascendancy in the run chase and with BFEC struggling to maintain control of their bowling, it was left to Olive and Kemal Pancho to steer home the team.

Pancho was in particular dominant form, hitting an unbeaten 23, including a maximum and 3 boundaries, whilst Olive played a more sedate role, finishing not out on 3.

The victory came inside 9 overs and puts ESHS in pole position for the Skeete Cup.
