That’s zessers music
That type of music should be banned period
That is the music that hyper the youths into killing they call themselves Killy Killy
As if killing is a style
Our festival has always been about local and regional music. Were they going with artists talking about them actually killing people and moving drugs, vulgar female artist singing nastiness and a ton of reggae? That is not we. Where in that lineup have anything for mature grown adults? They got one night they named Big People party where the artists are a joke! 17 plus really? That band is not a regularly performing band who have been staying sharp or relevant. Kes isn’tstrong enough to be a major headliner. Morgan Heritage don’t have the same family members like Gramps and his sister. Where is Bunji, Destra, Allison Hinds, Burning Flames, Fireman Hooper. Where is the Santo or PR artists like Chimbala or Royce or Marc Anthony. Even a Popcaan or Aidonia. What happened to a local USVI artist like Peanut the real nut with his local producer from up the Ghut Press the Button? They could still give the young people good vibes while keeping it local and cultural and supporting our own. There is not one single night that me as a late 30 year old is excited to go to the village. Not one. No word on Food Fair. No word on bringing back the water sports. Grease pig. Why not have donkey races around the outside of the booths like a track. Organize scooter races down the stretch by Bobby’s like in Europe where they close off the roads for one day and have safety precautions in place. Add somethings new and exciting for young people. We want them to be involved and excited but don’t turn the whole thing in to just a bunch of just come Jamaican reggae artist. Fungi evening where you bring fungi bands from st Croix, Anguilla, st Maarten, st kitts to play early then close with a Burning Flames or Bunji. I am disappointed. Hopefully the 70th is more like our culture and pays respects to our ancestors and remembers that the season is a festive celebration of emancipation from slavery and not just a hype concert.
Play kid friendly music while on the softball field too. The kids will appreciate it
