ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- More than 200 pathfinders begin arriving in the [British] Virgin Islands (VI) today, May 24, 2024, as the VI hosts the 48th VI/USVI Congressoree this weekend, May 24-26, 2024, under the theme ‘ENTER’.

111 pathfinders will be arriving from St Croix and 121 from St Thomas for the youth event last hosted by the VI in 2016.

It is the first face-to-face Pathfinder Congressoree since the global COVID-19 pandemic.

Premier Wheatley to give Declaration

The programme gets underway with a consecration service from 6:30 PM at the New Testament Church of God International Worship Centre in Baughers Bay, where Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) will give the Declaration.

A number of pathfinders will be invested on Saturday, which will precede a midday service where Minister for Education, Youth Affairs and Sports Hon Sharie B. de Castro (AL) will give greetings.

March of Witness

One of the highlights on Saturday will be a March of Witness in Road Town from 4:00 PM.

Police Commissioner Mark Collins is expected to deliver a speech on drug abuse and gun violence.

Sunday, May 6, 2024, has been designated Competition Day and will see Adventurers, Pathfinders, Counselors, and Instructors taking part in various sporting activities.

Gov Pruce to address pathfinders

Governor Daniel Pruce is slated to make an address at the opening ceremony for Competition Day.

The theme for the 48th Pathfinder Congressoree, ENTER, is an acronym, which means E- Embrace God’s Instructions, N- Navigate the Challenges, T- Trust in his Faithfulness, E- Exercise Obedience, R- Remain Patient and Persistent.

President of the North Caribbean Conference (NCC) Mr Desmond F. James said this year’s theme resonates deeply with the challenges and triumphs experienced over the past years. “These guiding principles are more significant now more than ever before, as we navigate unprecedented times.”

The VI/USVI Pathfinder Congressoree is a youth event of the North Caribbean Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.

The Commissioner don't need to give any speech let one of the detectives who are in the trenches daily give that speech.
