ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - A driver exiting a parking space at the parking lot at the Labour Department slammed into one parked vehicle with so much impact that it caused a domino effect sending the slammed vehicle into three other vehicles causing extensive damage.

The accident happened sometime around 3:15 pm today September 16, 2014 and it left persons nearby in shock to see the impact of the collision on the other vehicles.

When Virgin Islands News Online arrived on the scene, the vehicles were still in the position they were after the impact and Police were carrying out investigations. One of the vehicles hit was shifted so far that its front wheels ended up in the gutter over the curb.

Police on the scene would not comment except to confirm that there were no injuries to anyone as a result of the accident.

One eyewitness said that he was in the area when he heard the high revving of a vehicle’s engine and wondered “who was playing the fool.” Then he said he saw the vehicle rush forward in a high speed hitting one parked opposite it and setting off a chain reaction hitting three other vehicles.

The man said that from his analysis of the situation he surmised that the female driver of the errant vehicle must have had the vehicle in neutral and revved the engine when she put it in gear sending it forward uncontrollably.

One man who works in a nearby building said that one of his colleagues called him outside telling him his vehicle had been hit. When he came out he saw the extensive damage to his vehicle.

Who said it was a fella? It was a woman stressed out by a non-paying-child support father.

This happens all the time. Those owners are lucky that they caught the "perp" in time before they got away. I have had my car parked right behind the taxi stand across from Bolo's only to drive all the way home and realize that my bumper was hit while it was parked. Had to drive back to the area to see the damaged parts on the ground. Police never found the person. My friend left her vehicle parked at the lot across from Pusser's in Town to come back and meet the bumper hanging off. These people are ridiculous. I could understand if you hit a car that is parked and the other car just get a small dent or scratch, but you hit a park car with so much force to do thousands of dollars worth of damage then you need to pay for it.

While most of you are on here spewing nonsense and enjoying another human being's misfortune, perhaps you can arrange a spelling and grammar course to better yourselves.

I once had my car lurch forward because of the car mat getting pushed up under the pedals. Lucky for me there was just a wall in front of my parking space. It scared the crap out of me. My lesson was to always check the floor mats. Sharing this to point out that accidents do happen. Thankfully there were no people hurt.
