Opposition tries to bully HoA on formation of PAC @ Special Sitting for VI's heroes
The motion was brought to the Fourth Sitting of the First Session of the Fifth House of Assembly by the Opposition Leader and seconded by Hon Walwyn.
While the Opposition Members had claimed that notice for the motion for the formation of PAC was not needed, the Premier said that was not the case and added that, ahead of the sitting, the House had agreed to deal with a specific issue.
Meanwhile, moving to recess after the motion was moved, House Speaker Corine N. George-Massicotte said she needed time to consider everything surrounding the motion and its eligibility.
On returning, the Speaker said, “While I had the opportunity to consider the motion that was moved, I will call on the Leader of the Opposition at this time.”
Motion withdrawn by Hon Skelton
Opposition Leader Hon Skelton then moved a motion to withdraw the original motion which was then seconded by another Opposition member.
Ahead of the withdrawal, the Premier assured the House that forming a PAC was not something his government was avoiding.
“I want to let the Opposition know, that there is no effort to avoid forming the PAC. While they are quite anxious to get it formed, I would just kindly ask that today we deal with the matter of the national heroes and leave that [PAC] for the next sitting,” he said
The PAC is an important institution of the local House of Assembly as it provides the necessary checks and balances for the Executive in an effort to uphold tenants of accountability, transparency, and good governance in public office.

IT IN THE LAST ELECTION WHICH IS A TYPICAL EXAMPLE OF LACK OF UNITY AMONGST THEMSELVES / SO DON'T LOOK FOR INTEGRITY , IT WAS NEVER THERE
Since April the government formed and to now, October, there is no PAC. 6 months later. To the point where the Opposition have to bring it through the House. Then Sowande is bold enough to lie AGAIN and say it is not something his government is avoiding. So what is it?
I think the Opposition was giving that man time but now it is time for action. I call on the Opposition to put an end to the nonsense! It is time. To hear Lorna say they need more time when she was on Tola radio. The same one who decide she had to make a move in less than 24 hours. She had zero care or concern for the real matters. Acted dumb when asked about what COI recommendations are being delayed. How can you NOT know as the deputy. She only wanted to talk about a stupid meeting she was about to have on an island. She running her own government. Sowande gone rogue. The junior in the 4th have been emboldened to follow after the foolish ways of her leader, Kye gone to sleep while the infrastructure is a disaster in itself, Sharie in Singapore looking for stupid points with her don't care attitude.
You all voted for this mess.
