ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- None of the six persons arrested in a drug bust in Anguillan waters on July 7, 2023, are from the [British] Virgin Islands, Commissioner of Police Mark Collins has confirmed.

Apart from the arrests, two vessels were detained and a total of 60 bales of cocaine, estimated to be over 1.5 metric tonnes, was seized in the operation involving US law enforcement authorities, Royal Anguilla Police Force, HM Anguilla Customs Department, the UK National Crime Agency, and the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF).

Mr Collins said it is believed the drugs on board were destined for the VI, hence the RVIPF Marine Unit was involved in that collaborative operation.

“We seized that vessel in Anguillan waters, and we took the six prisoners and drugs to Anguilla. That was the obvious thing to do because it was in Anguillan waters.

“I can tell you that none of the six persons on board were from the BVI. They are all Spanish-speaking and we believe from the Dominican Republic,” Mr Collins said at a press conference called by the National Security Council (NSC) on July 20, 2023.

They were trying to get from Anguilla to the BVI because they know that the BVI DPP is incompetent and that they have much better chances of being acquitted in the BVI. They are considering applying to extradite themselves to the BVI.

As bad as things have been going for us in the BVI, it is good to know none of the culprits were from here. We've had enough!

These guys are playing dirty tricks in order to try to manipulate the minds of the people of the BVI to see them as saviors and our only hope for better. When this happen they gave an impression it was BVI people involved. This is nothing short of wicked.

So how did we allow the Puerto Rican Coast Guard to take our people out of BVI waters and go with them?
  • Gossip in Anguilla (21/07/2023, 09:57) Like (5) Dislike (8) Reply
The only connection to the BVI is that the occupants of the boat wanted to get to the BVI because everybody in Anguilla, even Spanish drug runners, knows about the reputation of the BVI DPP for spectacular failure.

      Yep.
Yesterday it was said that 3 VI Nationals detained nobody else.
Today a story that 6 were arrested. None from the Vi and the proof ????? they all speak Spanish .
Something not right. Sounds like a drug deal among the captors and the captives.

Well said. They have more disappointment to come. Remember they are the ones who eluded to the fact they might have been BVI people. This is why the Governor congratulated the police along with him really wanted to praise the UK efforts only. What an ongoing set up.
