No Fears Fahies’ seal win over Panthers!
The first game of the day saw Lavern “Ebony” Fahie give No Fear an early lead on their way to a 5-0 romp when she scored direct from a corner against the Panthers. The defender on the post and Gertrude Thomas in goal were both being deceived by the curling swerving ball.
Makeda Fahie made it 2-0 two-thirds of the way through the first half when she was on hand to slot home from close range after the ball made its way across the Panthers penalty box to the unmarked Fahie.
Thomas and the rest of the Panthers defense put up a much stronger showing in the second half and held the rampant No Fear at bay despite the ball seemingly being stuck deep inside the Panthers half.
It wasn’t until the 74th minute that the Panthers conceded the third goal, this time from the boot of the persevering Kelienne Smith.
She made a jinking run inside the box having picked up the ball from Keithrece Smith, who herself held off the challenge from two defenders to feed the ball through to Smith.
“Ebony” made it 4-0 just a couple of minutes later with her second goal of the day, this time a solo effort that saw her outpace the last defender and give Thomas no chance with a powerful shot into the corner.
Not to be outdone her sister, Makeda added her second to make it 5 -0 a minute later as she cut inside from the left, held off the challenge from a defender and slammed her shot past Thomas.
The second game of the day saw the Ballstars put five unanswered goals past VG United despite a nervy first half in which they eventually took a 2-0 lead thanks to two penalty kicks and reached half time 3-0 up after a long range effort from Kia Foreman.
The opening goal also came from Foreman, although she got the luck of the bounce and spin following a poor penalty kick which the keeper appeared to have comfortably saved. However, the ball bobbled, bounced and spun up off her arm and into the net as she scrambled to clear it away.
Tevern David then made it 2-0, also from the spot, with a much more authorative effort. She drilled her kick down the middle and with such power that it gave the keeper no chance of a save.
The third took a long time coming, but was well worth the wait as after a spell of sustained pressure and several chances going abegging, Foreman scored her second with a 20-yard volley that flew into the top corner.
After the break, Jehnene Joseph was in the right place at the right time to fire home the 4th goal.
A Murcella Gordon corner was kept alive by Laura Pompey who laid the ball into the path of Foreman. Her fine shot brought out a save from the keeper, but Joseph was unmarked at the right post to slam home the deflection.
Victoria Medley Parkins rounded out the scoring to make the final score 5-0.
