Nigerian Community & 1FirstBank VI Staff saddened by passing of long-time security officer
He passed away in his homeland Nigeria on Friday, July 7, 2023, after being ill. He was from Enugu State, in the south-East geopolitical zone of Nigeria.
Mr Ikwueme, a security officer for over seven years with Top Priority Security Services owned by political aspirant Lesome Smith, will be buried in his homeland after returning there from Tortola just last week.
Mr Ikwueme had been living in the Virgin Islands (VI) for over seven years, as he was recruited here as a security officer with Top Priority Security Services.
Customers and staff at 1FirstBank Road Town Branch described the late Mr Ikwueme as “professional, kind, helpful and always ready and willing to help”.
Good example for all Nigerians living in VI
Many residents of the local Nigerian community expressed their sadness over his passing and noted that he was a committed brother and a good example for Nigerians living in the Territory. The deceased was in his late 50s, and was of the Christian faith.
Many residents who came in contact with Mr Ikwueme at the bank or otherwise all had kind words to say about him, as he lived a life of hard work and he was a compassionate man.
The President of the VI Nigerian Association, Mr Emmanuel I. Igwebuike, could not be reached for immediate comments.
The staff and management of Virgin Islands News Online offer our condolences to both the VI Nigerian Community, 1FristBank VI, Top Priority Security Services, and other loved ones of the late Maurice Ikwueme.

Just hush yah lying @%$. Sick of ayo now man. That man was a sweetheart. If he was giving you problems it’s because you was giving him. He was always so helpful and full respect for the customers.
How can that be considered christ like, how?
People, wrong is wrong regardless of where you are from.
So are you saying that he knows who is a Virgin islander or who is island man. Is that what you are saying?
My God,even in death.
If we say that we believe in christ and we follow his doctrin,I am sure he won't ask us,if you are a local or island.
The man was only doing his work.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
THE SO CALLED ARISTOCRATS AND HIGHLY EDUCATED ONES SEEMS TO FORGET WE ARE IN THE 21ST CENTURY AND THEY HAVE TO ENLIGHTEN THESE IGNORAMUSES TO THROW THAT EVIL MENTALITY IN THE GABBAGE INSTEAD THEY THEMSELVES SEEMS TO NUTURE IT , HENCE ( EXPATS / ISLAND PEOPLE ) IS USED TO INSULT THE SAME PEOPLE WHO ARE SUPPOSED TO BE OUR CARIBBEAN BROTHERS AND SISTERS , AND HAPPENS TO SHARE THE SAME ANCESTRY ????
