Next advance to Round 2 in East Division Playoffs; Momentum stay alive
Next, a red hot tip to become 2016 Champions, cruised past Winning Mentality, 77-75 in game one and 99-77 in game two, with Killven M. Samuel scoring 31 points and 10 rebounds. Rebelto James added 14 points with 7 rebounds, Raheem Blyden 13, Devante Brewley 10 and Clint Weston 14 rebounds.
Winning Mentality got 27 points and 17 rebounds from Rudy Vanterpool and 15 points from Tafari Winchester.
Momentum survived the first weekend of the post season, but only after getting a shock defeat, 69-77, at the hands of the Warrias in game one, with the damage done to the scoreboard and Momentum pride by Shaquille T. Fonseca, who scored 31 points with 10 rebounds.
In game two though, Momentum got their cadence going and ran out 73-68 victors, thanks in large part to 28 points, 8 rebounds and 7 steels from Travis A. Isaac. Louie A. Poblette added 15 points and Kitwana Rhymer 10 with 12 rebounds.
The Warrias were again led by Fonseca, who scored 23 points whilst Juan R. Hatchett notched 19.
Bayside Blazers edge West Gunners
The Bayside Blazers then took the upper hand in their playoff against West Gunners, recording an 89-88 win in game one, with both Jevon K. Serrant and Dextroy D. Manswell scoring 15 points. The latter added 15 rebounds, whilst Kyle L. Abraham finished with 15, Tavon J. Phillip 13 and Dion M. Blyden 10.
The West Gunners got 22 points each from Douron Phillip, who also picked off 11 rebounds and Nicols Charles, whilst Ray D. Victor scored 15, Gerrard Vanterpool 11 with 11 rebounds and Omar Walker grabbed 10 rebounds.
Splash Brothers humble We Dem Boys
The Splash Brothers also recorded a win in their game one against We Dem Boys, 91-55, with 29 points coming from Abrey Daniel, 18 and 10 rebounds from Ashfield Frett, 18 from Michael Benjamin and 12 from Shamoi A. Dagou.
Only Lenroy Grant (11) reached double figures for the Boys, whilst Requan Fahie picked up 15 rebounds.
In the Junior Division match ups, Hi Speed beat the Thunder 34-20, with Kahil Farrington scoring all but 6 of the Thunder’s points in a losing effort and the Junior Starz cruised past High Speed, 30-10. With 9 points from K’ntenay Maduro scoring 9 points, 12 rebounds and Malaki A. Smith 8 also with 12 rebounds.
