FAT HOG’S BAY, Tortola, VI - Tola Radio VI 100.5 FM radio show host Mr Damian Percival has accused Premier Dr the Hon Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) of picking up bad habits from his predecessor, ex-Premier Andrew A. Fahie (R1).

Speaking on the Monday, October 24, 2022, edition of the ‘Da morning braff’ radio show, Percival said the premier has now ventured down the path of getting involved in ‘tit for tats’ with the Governor of the Virgin Islands, John J. Rankin, CMG.

“I realised our new premier has picked up some very bad habits from the former premier. The last press conference he called suddenly was in retaliation to the Governor’s press conference,” Percival claimed.

In a recent press conference, Governor Rankin indicated the Unity Government had missed some deadlines from the CoI reforms to which the Premier responded that the Governor's side had missed deadlines too.

Percival added that Premier Wheatley's response was 'tit for tat' he learned from his predecessor.

Leaders failing VI - Percival

Meanwhile, the radio show host, in a lengthy rant, said the leaders of the VI continue to fail the people of the territory and said they are so fixated on carrying out CoI reforms that other areas of the country are suffering.

Touching on one contentious issue, which is the non-working ambulances in the VI, Percival asked what maintenance works are being undertaken on the emergency vehicles. “We are so focused on this CoI recommendations; the rest of the country is falling apart,” he said.

Percival also accused leaders of carrying out their own agenda, which could mean neglecting their duties in public office.

“I would like to see the amount of money that was spent to host that event over the weekend [Friendship Day Celebration], and I am willing to bet you it could have bought an ambulance,” he said.

And you? You are not good enough to realize and speak up. Cowardly maybe? Fragile touchy feelings??? You sound very scared and impotent, by the way you must involve everyone by writing this stupid infantile rant because of your own pain. Feeble infirm. It’s people like you, stressed out, running on ultra high emotions and unleashing them on someone who speaks truth and seem to hide behind that rhetoric. We’ve all been watching this high school level circus over and over. Nothing ever written with integrity just raw emotion, bullying and aggressiveness. All of that tells a story. Touchy aren’t you. World is watching, you can bank on that. I pray this wasn’t penned by a government official. KEEP ON TOLA MAN. We love your truth.

“We are so focused on this CoI recommendations; the rest of the country is falling apart,” he said. According to the Governor, Those are PRIORITY! Nothing else really matters, so they MUST be focused on them, or else fail or be delayed and be forced to have our constitution suspended. People need to stop being fooled. Fixing the broken processes that have for years been a trend in public life was and IS a task by itself. Its a WHOLE other show to keep the country relevant and progressing during reform.

Don’t play the stupid game about look what radio come to. If it was not for Tola Radio, we would not know or informed about what is going on. Damian had a right to his opinion and he didn’t say anything that the majority don’t already know. When the headline came out I laugh because I know they were going after Damian. Pleaseee, Damian can handle himself. Love him or hate him, he is a well spoken intelligent man and you can’t take that away from him. Knowledge is power.

VINO may censor me for my blog but that's ok. I enjoy listening to Tola Radio. It has surely lent a voice to many people who in my opinion would not have been able to voice their many grievances. Initially Damian a person I respect, came over to.me as one of the more level headed persons on the panel but as time went by I started to raise my eyebrow as he started to show disrespect to the many persons he was putting on air over their performances like calling one Official a Do.......Bag or referring to others as idiots or stupid and more. In fact I heard one Pilitician referring to other as "chicken bottom". To be honest I am amazed about some of the references made about people on the radio without any repercussions. To the matter at hand. I think Damian should address the topics that are being hosted without sounding as though he has a personal vendetta against his subject especially against the Premier. I sense his frustration but calling people names and disrespecting their person/ office will not help. ( he is not the only one who does on the show) People from all works of life and from outside the country are listening to this radio show and some are wondering when.....but it is just a matter of time. Let us remember that Free speech has legal protective barriers. Once you cross any of these barriers you are entering a place call legal troubles.

I have read the commentary by Damian Percival about the Hon. Premier following in the footsteps of former premier Hon. Andrew Fahie. I would like to state empathetically that the Premier is doing a fantastic job. Those persons who are criticizing the Premier because he is responding to the governor are like house slaves. We elected the members of the House of Assembly and not the governor to run the affairs of the country. Why the governor is making all the statements in the media. I want to hear from our elected representatives and not the governor. There is a bigger issue ahead of us.

I wish that one day I could read the blogs and find just one comment that is positive, that is encouraging the Government of National Unity to keep trudging on, that is from a pure heart. I am so tired of the comments that are degrading and full of negativity. Is there anyone who believes that we are in a rough spot and we need some to encourage our leaders to do the best they can do so we can progress? Come on man...
