GREAT HARBOUR, Jost van Dyke, VI - Premier and Minister of Finance, Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) has broken news that bids are already flowing in from contractors, for the construction of a facility to house a new ATM for the National Bank of the Virgin Islands on Jost van Dyke.

The announcement was made to residents of the community yesterday, December 21, 2020, at a contract signing ceremony for the design of the new building to house the JvD Primary School on the Island.

According to Premier Fahie, approval for the ATM has already been granted at the level of Cabinet and under the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Natural Resources for the land and location where the machine will be placed on the Island.

He told residents that the days of Jost Van Dyke, Anegada and Virgin Gorda being ignored are long gone and that his administration will not go down in history as one that ignored the sister islands.

Sister Islands will not be ignored - Premier

"It cannot be that we are in the same BVI… and Tortola get the garbage truck and when it could barely move, they send it Virgin Gorda and when it could crawl you send it to Anegada and when it can't move at all you send it Jost van Dyke. Those days are gone," Premier Fahie said.

"Sometimes people in Tortola take for granted what people in Jost van Dyke have to go through to do business… If you live Tortola come back tomorrow is easy, but if you live Jost van Dyke, Virgin Gorda or Anegada, come back tomorrow is not easy," Hon Fahie went on to say.

Premier Fahie also complimented Hon Melvin M. Turnbull (R2) for his heightened level of representation for the needs of the people of the sister islands.

However, the Premier made it clear that his Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Government will continue to recognise the needs of the people, unlike the previous administration that ignored the sister islands.
