New JvD ATM is ‘promise made, promise kept’– Premier Fahie
The long-awaited ATM, affiliated with the National Bank of the Virgin Islands, was first announced on December 21, 2020, at a contract signing ceremony for the design of the new building to house the JvD Primary School on the island.
At the signing, the Premier said the commitment to opening new services on islands such as Jost can Dyke comes as part of the Government’s drive to have equal services provided to both the main island of Tortola and the sister islands.
"It cannot be that we are in the same BVI… and Tortola get the garbage truck and when it could barely move, they send it Virgin Gorda and when it could crawl you send it to Anegada and when it can't move at all you send it Jost van Dyke. Those days are gone," Premier Fahie said.
Promise made & delivered - Premier
In a Tuesday, July 5, 2021, post, the Premier said the new ATM is a “Promise made. Promise kept. Promise Delivered.”
“Kudos to the National Bank of the Virgin Islands for providing banking facility on JvD for the first time ever with assistance from Your Government,” he said.
Approval for the ATM was granted at the level of Cabinet and under the Ministry of Natural Resources, Labour and Immigration for the location where the machine is located.
