This was announced by Minister for Health and Social Development, Hon Carvin Malone (AL) at a COVID-19 briefing tonight, July 8, 2021.
The Minister said that the decision was requested by the National Security Council and approved by Cabinet as a step to mitigate the spread of the current COVID-19 outbreak which is currently at 821 active cases as of July 8, 2021.
Persons deemed essential workers will not be affected by the curfew.
Limits on movements announced
Further, all restaurants in the VI are being restricted to take-out services only for the period of the curfew.
“Cabinet also decided that for 14 days effective July 9, 2021, persons will be advised to limit their movement and stay at home where possible,” Hon Malone announced.
The Health Minister said no loitering and gatherings will be encouraged as part of the order and cabinet-approved measures.
“This decision is expected to be reviewed on a regular basis to determine whether further measures including a 24-hour lockdown may be required, to limit movement in order to further reduce the spread of COVID-19 in the territory,” he said.

A 24/7 14 days Lockdown is needed right to now to stem this massive outbreak. The numbers must go down now, if we are going to survive in this little place. Hon. Malone thank U for the Wonderful job u r doing along with the Health Authority. Lets keep hope alive.

They have done a fine job keeping the country clean thus far but there is only so much they can do if the people do not listen. They have to go back to the drawing board with the vaccinated as they aren't fully immuned to the vurus and take it from there. Forget about stressing the unvaccinated about getting vaccinated if they do not want to because lets face it our natural immunity have a 90 something percent of fignting off any viruse it come in contact wid if only we act fast on any little symotoms. I'm my opinion the government should have already knocked up a building to house the sick for when they open up the country so in this case they would have ben ready for the outbreak and could have kept everyone in a contained area. Not having everyone self quarentine, cause we know grown folks are just as disobedient asbl kids are and will walk out n infect others without a care in this wold, this is what the money should have been put to, maybe someone with infulence can pass this on to the government. It will put us in front i believe. This is why so many countries can operate with the virus because they can contain it n thats all we need to figure out. How to contain it n live with it untill it decides to leave the
