NDP Vice President Michael A. Turnbull resigns from party with immediate effect
The party’s Vice President tendered his resignation yesterday, Monday November, 12, 2018, with immediate effect.
Virgin Islands News Online has since secured a copy of Mr Turbull’s resignation which states: “ Over the last several months I have had the pleasure of being part of an amazing group of young people that crafted significant movements with the beloved National Democratic Party, this movement was symbolized by ideals that I still value and believe are deep within the foundation, however at this juncture for reasons that I reserve to dispel, I hereby tender my resignation as Vice President, with a heavy heart, with immediate effect.”
NDP Split
Mr Turnbull’s resignation comes days after the NDP Executive Meeting heard that Ms Shaina M. Smith, who also served as Chairperson of the party’s Women’s Association, also tendered her resignation, with immediate effect.
The NDP has split and continues to suffer the loss of numerous stalwarts, ever since the recent election of Honourable Myron V. Walwyn (AL) as its new Chairman and Leader.
According to senior sources in Honourable Ronnie W. Skelton’s (AL) Virgin Islands Progressive Alliance (VIPA) wing, more resignations are expected in the coming days.
