NDP plans to improve eight miles of roads per year
This is among the plans outlined in the main opposition party’s manifesto which was made public on October 26, 2011 at the Sir. Olva Georges Plaza.
“A National Democratic Party government will develop and introduce a road classification system (major and minor roads) to ensure that the quality of roads are improved over time...provide for all major roads through developed communities to have sidewalks. Redevelop roads according to the classification system and ensure that proper drainage are made part of the design,” the manifesto stated.
According to the manifesto, the NDP if elected will also review the current traffic situation in Road Town, with a view to providing relief to the motoring public. In addition to that, the party will construct rest areas/lookout points on select routes on the major road network.
And recognising the need to make the Paraquita Bay Road more pedestrian friendly, the NDP said it will construct sidewalks in the area to ensure that pedestrians are safe.
