‘NDP fooled the youths about jobs’- Rajah A. Smith
Mr Smith, while speaking on the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) radio show ‘Let’s Talk’ on January 21, 2015 on ZBVI 780 AM, told the public that “the Minister for Education Myron V. Walwyn and the Deputy Premier held job fairs and promised jobs for the youth [but] the young people are still today looking for their promised jobs.”
He blasted the current Administration as he said “the youths were fooled by the NDP administration and will not be fooled again next elections…. young people want meaningful jobs.”
Youths want same as adults
The youth leader in an opening statement on the radio show said; “they want to start their lives also, they want to purchase a car, land, build a house, take a vacation with their young family, get all the things in life just like the older adults and to be fooled and used as a political football by Myron and the NDP is wrong and disrespectful.”
Walwyn blames the youth
The young businessman, while on the show, brought to the attention of the listeners another flip-flop by the controversial and unpopular Minister for Education and Culture Honourable Walwyn. Mr Smith said “recently Mr Walwyn said at a speech at the college that it’s the young people’s fault why they can’t get jobs, because they are not qualified.”
Mr Smith said, “I know many young people who have many skills; from college educated to skilled labourers who still cannot find jobs in the so called robust and booming economy.”
Lack of Opportunities for youths under NDP
The youth master Smith told radio listeners on the VIP show “the Government has taken away opportunities from our youths and I want to send a message to young people: Do not ever be fooled again… Never again! A vote for the VIP is a vote for increase funding for scholarships, private sector investment for jobs that you can live meaningful and productive lives, real opportunities to be entrepreneurs, so you do not have to go begging anyone or politicians for anything because you did the wrong thing.”
The show was hosted by VIP President Carvin Malone and included party boss Honourable Julian Fraser RA, (R3) and senior party member Honourable Andrew A. Fahie (R1).

There are many who have benefited from Hon. Walwyn's initiatives to assist them in finding employment so don't try to throw cold water on what he has done. Find your own niche to get involved. THe youth are going to vote for him anyway, cause he already has that special bond with them.
Boss the numbers are there for you to look at. Shortly after taking office the minister held a number of job fairs and workshops to prepare our kids for the job world, this was throughout the country. Take a look at how much people were employed after and get back to me?
So who does the NDP like and how can a government survive if it hates its entire popoulation?
We the people know what all you have done since in office, you have our 12 family votes again.
We took a chance and voted for you and we are happy we did.
Do not mind the voices of a few who try to call you down.
S...ia that is a good one...I see why mw renew your contract hahaha haha hah we will never be fooled again NEVER!!
De j I go sit down with this bull #$$%%^
The NDP did not fail the youths The youths are failing themselves when they decide they are going to drop out of school, when they decide they are not going to further their education. Saying you want a job and being qualified for a job is two different things.
One out of 10 people can say you help them butcan that one put you in power .noooo.help all inneed not some
