Nagico sponsors HLSCC’s 'A Jam for a Cause'

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - As part of its mandate to support the rebuilding of the Virgin Islands (VI) – following the devastating hurricanes of 2017 – Nagico Insurances presented a sponsorship cheque to the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC), to aid in hosting a fundraising musical showcase at its Paraquita Bay Campus, today, Saturday, December 1, 2018.

According to a release from the company dated Friday, November 31, 2018, the presentation was made on Thursday, November 30, 2018, and the company says proceeds raised from the musical dubbed ‘A Jam for a Cause,’ will go towards the HLSCC Culinary Arts Centre.

Fortunate

“We have been fortunate to receive many donations in kind for this event, for example, Nagico is our main sponsor… so we are hoping this event will be a success and we can raise some money," said Ms Yvonne Crabbe, Director of Grants Planning and Fundraising at HLSCC.  

She noted, that many programmes of the HLSCC Culinary Arts Centre are still affected due to the loss of specialty equipment at the institution following the September 2017 hurricanes.

"The net proceeds will go towards the Culinary Arts Centre so we can get our kitchen up and running and our programmes going.” 

A Jam for a Cause

'A Jam for a Cause' will kickoff from 7:00 pm and Performers will include the Virgin Islands top bands VIBE, Showtime and ABM. The hosts of the show will be DJ Dre, DJ Paid FA and DJ Marz.

The cheque was presented by Nagico's Medical and Customer Service Department Manager, Mrs Niasha Penn-Benjamin to Chairman of the Board of HLSCC, Dr Charles H. Wheatley in the Nagico Building on Waterfront Drive, Tortola.

Managing Director of Nagico Insurances, Mr Shan Mohamed said Nagico Group has paid in excess of US$720 million for the recent hurricane insured losses and is pleased to be able to support the local community by being a main sponsor for the HSLCC Musical Showcase.
