ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The embattled leader of the Opposition National Democratic Party (NDP) and former legislator, Mr Myron V. Walwyn, today, May 21, 2019 tendered his resignation as Chairman of the National Democratic Party.

Mr Walwyn became Chairman on June 24, 2018 after a nasty fight with former Minister for Health and Social Development Honourable Ronnie W. Skelton, who subsequently left the party to form his own group.

At the helm of the NDP, Mr Walwyn’s team was overwhelmingly defeated at the February 25, 2019 General Elections. He lost his own seat as At Large Representative.

It is now unclear whether Mr Walwyn will remain in active politics.

Virgin Islands News Online is working on getting a copy of Mr Walwyn’s resignation letter.

Flip-flops

After losing his seat at the polls, Mr Walwyn, during the NDP’s first press conference post-elections on Friday, March 1, 2019, said he was not quitting.

“I will continue to serve you and the Territory that I love in a private capacity and will continue to help its people in the best way I can,” Mr Walwyn said. He had also dispelled reports that he would be resigning from the chairmanship of the NDP.

“I will continue as the Chairman of the National Democratic Party,” he had told those gathered at the press conference.

Under investigation

Mr Walwyn is also under investigation for a small wall built around the Elmore Stoutt High School, costing tax payers $1.6M.

He has been a controversial figure on the political scene and has been accused of dividing the country by putting locals against expatriates.

Mr Walwyn served two terms (2011 - 2019) as an At Large Representative with the National Democratic Party and held the portfolio of Minister for Education and Culture.

Can’t believe people, human, citizens, taxpayers actually physically voted for the NDP or anyone involved with NDP. More than one member of the NDP 1 & 2 will do time in at H.M.P before 2020

The level of hatred in BVI is great, very very great. Yet, the majority that resides in it call themselves Christians. Referring not only to the locals but to all outsiders as well, regardless of race, color or locality.

It’s a pity humans cannot read minds or hearts - a good thing I guess! But from now on, I would not be smiling up with anyone, including those who supposedly claim to be fellow worshippers.

@ Looking on...just this morning I came across this book title in my notes and although I have not seen or read the book it struck me as being quite interesting. The book is authored by James Billington and entitled 'Fire in the minds of men.'

The resignation of Hon. Myron Walwyn as chairman of the National Democratic Party is not a surprise for me. If some one wants to lead, he must also be willing to follow. We are seeing the true colours of the N.D.P members. These members were only looking for themselves and not the people's interest. He that humbles himself will be exhausted.
I thank God for Hon. Andrew Fahie and his government. May He watch over them and protect them from all harm and danger.

I'm so disappointed.. I really liked Myron...But Nothing positive to show for the people who gave him consecutive most votes " Xpats" Plus the School wall where his mouth Ran like a River. Couldn't believe what I'm hearing was coming from a lawyer.. All he had to say was " the allegations are serious I'm going look into it, sit down with the relevant people and have some discussions on the allegations"..Done!.. Fahie is Now our New Hero. Myron promised us empty promises.. Fahie is actually delivering. Once Fahie stay the course inspite the noise history would record him as the BVI Abraham Lincoln....

For God sake go sit down! Fahie will show his true colors shortly. As a matter of fact, he’s already started. Myron had his flaws like we all do. Act like you’re so squeaky clean now.

Myron turn out to be the biggest political joke after the 2019 elections.
Cant even defend his own seat and we all remember him mocking/challenging andrew and fraser to run atlarge but both men are still in there seats.

Go sit down now and NEVER TO RETURN the chicken has come straight home
